Traffic Reduction

Traffic congestion is a frequent complaint when I talk to people in our valley. It affects me personally as a business owner, and we need to tackle this problem. I will take a comprehensive approach that includes:

  1. Recruiting more high-paying jobs to Santa Clarita so people don’t have to commute out of the valley. I want to make sure that our local residents spend more time with their family and can be engaged in their community.

  2. Increased mass transit options, including transportation to our Metrolink stations, more park and ride stops, and expanded local bus service.

  3. Expanded Metrolink services with more connections in the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles.

  4. I want to initiate discussions with others leaders in our region about expansion of Metro’s red line subway to Santa Clarita. Los Angeles city leaders are talking about it, and we need to match that energy and those ideas with those from up here, and I’m the person who will do that.

  5. In the short-term, we should work with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to increase their service.

  6. Long-term, we must work to create a high speed or MagLev train system.

  7. Continue to work with Sacramento and Washington to ensure adequate funding for HOV and truck lane improvements on the I-5.

  8. Work with neighborhood councils in the San Fernando Valley and with other organizations to stop the Las Lomas project, proposed for the hillsides above the Newhall Pass

  9. As part of Las Lomas fight, we should educate our community about the issues and ask them to educate friends and family in the city of L.A.

  10. Also work with those who successfully defeated the Ahmanson Ranch project to develop effective strategies.

  11. The City should continue to register concerns with the County regarding required mitigations for all projects, including Newhall Ranch.

  12. We should with other communities in the area to address additional regional solutions.

  13. And of course, we need to create more workforce housing locally to allow people who live here to work here. And we need to bring more high-paying jobs to our City to allow people who live here to work here.

I hope this answers your question. If you would like to discuss this further, please call me at (661) 310-3654.
