Marsha McLean, Past Mayor, Council Member, City of Santa Clarita

"Santa Clarita has clearly benefited from Diane's experienced leadership. In the 11 years that I've worked with Diane, I've always been impressed with her knowledge of the issues, of city hall, and of the city's history and needs."

TimBen Boydston, Council Member, City of Santa Clarita

"I am endorsing Diane Trautman because she is Honest, Independent, does her homework on the issues and will make her decisions based on what is best for our great City. She is not beholden to special interests and will not be afraid to ask the hard questions. Her work on the Planning Commission has shown that she spends the time needed to learn each issue and then works to make each project better. Our City Council needs new blood and a fresh perspective and Diane fits the bill."

Michael Berger, Planning Commissioner, City of Santa Clarita

"As Chair of the Planning Commission, Diane was a true consensus builder. Her commitment to improving projects in a non-confrontational manner continues to bring together opposing viewpoints. I trust her to do her homework, challenge established ways of thinking, and ask the tough questions that keep the city moving in the right direction."

Suzan Teri Solomon, Immediate Past President, 34th District PTA; Governing Board Member, Newhall School District

"Diane is a focused, highly disciplined community advocate for public education. Through her work in PTA and other educational activities, she has enriched the lives of our children valley wide, and has contributed to providing the students of Santa Clarita a ‘world class’ education."

Dennis Ostrom, Planning Commissioner, City of Santa Clarita

“I have served with Diane Trautman of the planning commission for over five years. It has been a pleasure. She definitely does her homework and her own thinking, and at the same time is very open to additional input from her fellow commissioners, city staff, and member of the community at large. I like the way that she openly interacts, communicates her ideas and concerns and builds consensus. I believe that she is committed to making our city a better place to live in the near and long term, and in addition to her experience and knowledge, she has the will and passion to do it.”

Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters

Mitchell Schwartz, President of the LALCV: “Our endorsement team was very impressed with Diane Trautman’s grasp of the environmental issues facing Santa Clarita,” he said. “(She) will be an effective leader who will bring…improvement for all, in the areas of transportation, water conservation and health.” [Read the press release.]

Sierra Club

Sierra Club Political Chair Isaac Lieberman: As Sierra Club Political Chair, I'm confident that Diane will be the strongest voice for the environment on the City Council. Her solid background working to protect the environment as Planning Commissioner attests to this. She is bright, articulate, and has a great vision for leading our community into a successful and more sustainable future. [Read the press release.]

Smart Growth SCV

“Our city needs critical thinking leaders that will rise above cheap sound bites and political spin to forcefully deal with our most important issues.”

“Trautman brings to the table a wealth of planning knowledge and credentials. The Planning Commissioner could practically write a book on urban planning and seems to have a clear understanding and vision for Santa Clarita. Planning, land use, development are topics that are always on the front burner in Santa Clarita, and I think Trautman would bring a level of competence to the Council that we haven’t seen in awhile.” [Read the full endorsement on the SCVTalk.com web site.]

Henry Schultz, SCV Environmental Coalition

Diane has served six years on the planning commission showing an eye for both the big picture and nit-picking details while knowledgeably analyzing a variety of development projects. She is fair but not afraid to point out opportunities for improvement. Diane has devoted her life to children and their education…

Don Williams, AICP

I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of knowing Diane (and husband Allan) since 1996. As a life-long student of politics and a city planner for 22 years (14 here in Santa Clarita) I’ve watched local elections up close for a long time.

Diane has faithfully served the SCV community for years, most recently (and unselfishly) as a planning commissioner. She is dedicated. She is inclusive. She does not have an agenda or an axe to grind. She reads thousands and thousands of pages of material a year and does her homework on the projects and issues facing our decision makers. Diane “gets it”. If there’s a better way to learn the business of being a city council member than working as a planning commissioner, I don’t know it.

Margee Schubert

In her long public service career in the Santa Clarita Valley, Diane has steadfastly championed quality of life issues and the kinds of rational expansion and development that best support them. She voted against the hospital expansion in what was no doubt a hotly debated issue. She’s the type of person I want sitting on City Council - someone who makes a reasoned decision and doesn’t cave into pressure.

Shawn Monheim

Throughout the many years I have known Diane Trautman, she has exhibited honesty, compassion and perseverance to achieve the goals she has worked toward, whether they be personal, educational, business or political. She cares about and listens to the people in our city and is genuinely interested in the issues they bring forth. She always has and will continue to work hard to educate herself on all sides of an issue to ensure she takes into account all the relevant information and only then make her decision based on what is best for all of us.…Diane has my complete trust and support.

Jennifer Kimes

Diane has stood steadfastly in support of the most recent urgent issues in our community. Because of her prior support and raising awareness of timely issues in the past, many of those problems were greatly improved. That is the mark of a leader, to recognize, plan and implement a resolution. Would you want to be living in a community that had the same exact issues it should have dealt with 12 years ago? Obviously, our community has evolved and the issues affecting our community have evolved. I hope voters can recognize the person who has contributed tirelessly, selflessly and effectively to the needs of our city, Diane Trautman.

Carole Lutness

What I really admire about Diane is that she is a person of integrity, she does her homework and can work within our system effectively with out “selling out” to special interest. I trust her. She often does not vote the way I would like her to vote but, like [Council Member] Tim Ben [Boydston], I know she is coming from a place of integrity. What I’ve also been very impressed by recently is her grasp on how serious our problems are and how we must see our issues in light of the “big picture.” Santa Clarita’s problems are a microcosm of the large problems facing this country and the world. We need someone with her vision. “Where there is no vision, the people perish”

Gene Dorio, M.D., Senior and Internal Medicine

"Diane not only has a clear vision of how a healthy city relates to its seniors, but she has a plan to get us there. Her sense of ethics is impressive. When given the choice between the easy way and the right way, she never hesitates to do the right thing."
