Diane Trautman for City Council

2008

  1. I have served five years on the City of Santa Clarita Planning Commission, working on the same critical issues of growth and quality of life that will be coming before the City Council.

  2. I have served for many years at various levels with the PTA: 34th District Scholarship Chair; SCV Council Legislative and Community Outreach Chairs; and unit President.

  3. In 2003, I created a local, independent company, StudyPros In-Home Tutoring, extending my commitment to serving the education needs of children in the Santa Clarita Valley.

  4. A member of the American Association of University Women, I have also promoted education through my work on the AAUW’s Science and Math Fair for junior high school girls. I have recently accepted an invitation to join the SCV-Newhall Optimist International Club to further support our youth.

  5. I am a cofounder of the Save Our Seniors Committee where, as co-chair, I work to make the financial and emotional lives of our local seniors more secure.

  6. Over the years, I have participated in many city-organized meetings regarding strategic planning, park development and other issues. I have testified before the Los Angeles Regional Planning Commission and the South Coast Air Quality Management District on issues of regional concern.

  7. I recently served on the Santa Clarita Valley Save Open Space committee, a citizen’s committee formed to promote acquisition and permanent preservation of natural lands.

  8. I am also a founding member of the Santa Clarita Valley Environmental Coalition, which was formed to foster greater understanding of environmental problems and to develop solutions across party lines and throughout the development and business communities.

  9. I am the planning commission’s liaison to the city’s Arts Advisory Committee, extending my commitment to support education, arts and culture in Santa Clarita.
